When you’re planning a trip to Edinburgh, it can sometimes feel like there are a million places which come highly recommended. They’re usually located somewhere super obvious like Princes or George Street, and will be absolutely packed at this time of year. So, I thought it might be fun to share two of the city’s best kept secrets!
The Queen’s Arms is tucked away on Frederick Street, and it’s the spot I head to when I want to enjoy a cozy winter evening. You have to head downstairs from the pavement, and it feels super Harry-Pottery with book-lined walls and fun light fixtures.
It’s such a fun spot to spend an evening with friends – we love to order a couple of cocktails (my favourite is the Lemon and Earl Grey sour) and pick a few appetizers to share. Whether we go for haggis lollipops, or cullen skink croquettes, they’re always absolutely delicious!
My other favourite hidden gem is Element on Rose Street. Tucked between the George and Princes Street, I always head in on days when I’m doing serious retail damage. It’s a super chic nook, with Georgian fireplaces and huge comfy sofas – the perfect place for a little afternoon R&R!
A glass of prosecco and a bowl of soup and crusty bread is the perfect way to perk up an afternoon!
